This Greg Norman design Championship layout is like two totally different experiences all in the same day. The front nine takes you inland, with native vegetation and winds through a mangrove preserve which is complete with its own island green. The back nine are the ocean holes, where one would be hard pressed to find six more beautiful holes anywhere in the world than 11 through 16.
Whether it’s the approach shot on to number 12, with the waves lapping at the left side of the green, or your tee shot on 14, which is set on a peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, you will not soon forget these holes.
This course has gained a reputation as one of the world’s greatest ocean side clubs, the course uses an environmentally friendly seashore grass, which offers a lush deep green canopy. Nestled in a series of dramatic fairways along the ocean front that winds through seaside dunes, the course finishes on a rocky peninsula with a spectacular view of the ocean.
Following is a brief preview and tips of some signature holes which hug the perimeter of Emerald Bay’s scenic peninsula, providing unparalleled vistas along its crystal clear turquoise waters.
14th hole
The 303 yard 14th hole has one
of the most spectacular tee shots in the
Caribbean, as It is surrounded on three
sides by the majestic Atlantic Ocean and
is easy to be distracted by the thundering
waves crashing against the tee. The green
is protected by a 70 yard long bunker
on the left and colorful native fauna
& flora on the right.
16th hole
The dog-leg on the 16th is a
dog-leg left along Emerald Bay, smart
players should respect the ocean and aim
for the right center of the fairway. A
well struck tee shot can set up a short
iron approach to this well bunkered green,
making birdies a real possibility.
